The Opportunity

Vocational training as Ship Broker/Agent (z. Dt. Ausbildung für Schifffahrtskaufleute, Schiffsmarkler- und agenten) (M/F/D)

Rostock, Germany

Throughout the two and a half to three-year training, you'll rotate through all specialized departments within our shipping company, in Rostock and Hamburg.

These include among other:

  • Nautical-Technical Department
  • Crewing (Personnel)
  • Finance Department
  • Operating
  • Chartering
Additionally, you'll have a brief stint on one of our cargo ships for one to two weeks. The theoretical training is conducted at the Vocational School for Logistics, Shipping, and Tourism in Hamburg, with accommodation provided by our company.

Basic requirements:

  • Minimum age of 16 years
  • Good secondary school diploma, high school diploma, vocational baccalaureate diploma, or equivalent qualification
  • Proficiency in English due to our international business relationships
  • Interest in geography is desirable

The Opportunity

Vocational training as a Ship Mechanic (z. Dt. Ausbildung für Schiffsmechaniker) (m/f/d)

Rostock, Germany

As an apprentice ship mechanic (m/f/d), you are an all-round talent for the entire ship operation. The theoretical training on land takes place at a vocational school and in maritime training centres. During practical training on board our ships, you will learn how to handle modern technology, carry out maintenance work and operate machinery and equipment. You will be deployed on deck, in the engine room or on the bridge. Steering the ship and what to do in an emergency are also part of your training.

Other training focuses in overall ship operations include:

  • Ship Operations Management for Deck and Engine
  • Ship Operation Technology, Electrical Engineering
  • Repair / Maintenance
  • Cargo Handling and Transshipment Technology
  • Ship Safety

What are the prerequisites?

  • Minimum age of 16 years
  • Good secondary school leaving certificate, Abitur or equivalent qualification
  • As we have international crews, you should have a good and confident command of English
  • Medical fitness for service at sea in the deck and engine areas
  • Manual skills and technical understanding are not mandatory but desirable
  • An interest in geography is desirable
